CONTACT LENSES FAQ

Who can wear contact lenses?
There is no age limit - most people can wear contact lenses provided that the eyes are healthy and suitable. We usually wait until children are over 10 years old before fitting lenses, but you're never too old to start.
Is it easy to insert the lenses?
It is much easier than most people think. Our opticians will teach you everything you need to know, including how to insert and remove them, how to look after them and advise on wearing times. Most people experience no more than 'awareness' for a few seconds, but usually completely acclimatise and forget they are wearing them within a few minutes.
What do I have to do if I want to try contact lenses?
A current eye examination is required before we can fit contact lenses. If you do not have a recent prescription, we can arrange the sight test to be done together at the same appointment, and then you will be guided through all the different options.
Will there be a charge for trying contact lenses?
There will be a £35.00 charge that is fully refundable if you decide not to go ahead with the lenses or you find that your eyes are not suitable.
Are contact lenses expensive?
Carter and Harding offer a number of payment options for both regular and occasional contact lens wearers - prices start from just £5.00 a month for monthly lenses and less than £1.00 a day for daily lenses.
Carter and Harding offer a wide range of contact lenses including daily, weekly, two weekly monthly or yearly soft & gas permeable lenses.
